The scales have spoken: I have lost 4 lbs. This means I am so very very close to my first milestone. To get below 150 kg (about 330 lbs). Why this milestone? Because it is the maximum weight most scales go to in my country.

I decided some time ago that when I break this barrier I would buy scales as a gift. BUT, for now I have reconsidered. I am very happy with being weighed once every week at the WW meeting. I don't need the added stress and aggrivation. The 1.8 lb I lost this week means I can put the last charm laying in my drawer ON my bracelet. YES!

Next week I know I will break through the 150 kilo barrier, which means I will have lost 50 lbs in 14 weeks, and I am 25% on my way. I spent some time yesterday and today thinking about a target weight. And that presents me with a problem, and a question that will need answering eventually, when I reach that obstacle. I call it "excess skin".

I can go for 222 lbs. An earlier attempt with WW stopped there, cut short by the sudden death of my mother. At that moment, mind you, I was 29 then, I had no problems with excess skin, at a weightloss of a 112 lbs. You will find a photograph inserted on the left, not a very good one, but it shows me at least partially "skinny".

Should I go for that number, my BMI will still be in the red zone, at 31.1. I will have lost 158 lbs, which is 40 lbs more then my WW 1 try. Incidentally these 40 lbs is the amount of weight I put on in 13 years, or in other words.... 3lbs a year.
Question which remains is: "will I suffer from excess skin?"

Assuming I do not, reaching a healthy BMI, means I really would have to lose 202.4 lbs, about double of the weightloss I had when I was 29. I am almost sure I WILL suffer from excess skin. But, as You see I HAVE set my goal to 174 lbs (12 st and 10 lbs) none the less. I believe it is time to stare the complete challenge into the eye. It will result in a BMI of 25.

Thus I face a BI-CENTENNIAL CHALLENGE: losing 200 lbs in weight! However with 25% already done (I am darn proud of myself), I know it IS possible.

And so I will set myself a new milestone to go for after I make the first one.
Milestone 1: lose 25% of the total weightloss set, weigh less than 150 kg, equivalent to 51.8 lbs weightloss.
when: 8 august 2007, 1 week to go
Milestone 2: weigh less than 313 lbs (142 kilos, that way I will weigh less than I did 14 years ago when I made my first WW attempt!
When: 26th September 2007, 7 weeks to go --> 16.2 lbs or 2.3 lbs a week/1.1 kg a week

OMG - you go, Willow!!!! That is so wonderful!!!! If you lose slowly enough, drink enough water and eat healthfully (I've been told) you shouldn't have much problem with excessive skin. I, myself, would probably need a tummy tuck - but not for any of the above reasons - I got stretched out by baby and that stuff NEVER bounced back. That's me, though...
